The Inaugural KenGen Great Dams Race Beats Them All

The KenGen Great Dams Race held on Saturday 14 June 2014 at Masinga Dam, proved, as anticipated to be a race above the rest. The colourful run through thescenic route with over 700 runners, the tastefully branded arena and exhibition area and a full card evening to dawn entertainment program with Karish and Ken wa Maria’s live performances, and a giant screen to watch world cup matches – made it a weekend out to remember.

The event was graced by over 1,500 spectators and participants. 330 community members from Embu and Machakos counties competed against 21 corporate teams (over 200 runners) and 100 KenGen Staff. Machakos County community members clutched the top 3 positions for both the individual 21km and 10km races while Kenya Association of Manufacturers emerged winners of the corporate 21km race.

In the KenGen staff race, KenGen’s Nairobi team emerged the overall winner, followed by the Olkaria team, with the Kipevu team coming in at 3rd position.
