Storing water in sand gives communities water throughout the year

During their next stop at Kyusyani sand dam, the KenGen team learned that the ASDF sand dam models take 3-4 weeks to construct, are cost effective, and are exclusively managed by a registered self-help group.

“The look and learn trip gave us more than we bargained for”, says Mike Njeru. “All that is needed now is further consultations on how to adopt, and implement such methods within the communities we work with.
