Mike Njeru Receives Lifetime Award, Establishes Legacy Through the KenGen Foundation

Currently serving as the Managing Trustee of the KenGen Foundation, Mike has been instrumental in laying the foundation of the Company CSI arm and managing the upgrading and expansion of the social investment projects mainly in education, environment and water & sanitation.

Mike at a past KenGn Education Scholarships Award. As the Managing Trustee, Mike has been instrumental in setting up and managing the Foundation since inception.

His contribution to the up-scaling and reorganizing the scholarship program, introduction of highly successful environment programs such as the Schools Green Initiative Challenge, and the successful launch of the KenGen employee Giver Initiative has enabled the positioning of KenGen as big player in the social good arena.

At the Ceremony, Mike was thrilled about the Giver Initiative. “I would like to thank all KenGen staff who have supported the Foundation since inception, and I’m happy to announce that the Giver Initiative has currently over 500 subscribers”, he said

A brainchild of Mike, the employee Giver initiative is a unique program that involves KenGen staff in committing their time, knowledge, expertise, experience, or financial support in contributing directly to the Foundation’s CSR projects. So far, a section of the “Givers” are involved in the Education program as mentors, while others are involved as direct scholarship sponsors and environmental conservation activities.
