The KenGen PLC Annual Book Drive kicks off at all the Company’s installations with the aim of putting books in the hands of needy students this holiday season.

KenGen staff are encouraged to drop off their donations at set collection points at the power stations. From there, the books will be distributed to the students through the KenGen Foundation network of Givers.

KenGen Foundation’s Managing Trustee Anthony Igecha said that the Book Drive is a great way to give back to the community.

“For us at the Foundation, we’re always looking for unique ways to engage people in the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility activities,” Anthony said. “The book drive connects everyone in a very diverse way, and the benefit of donating books is that it helps people clear out items they may not want anymore, while benefitting those who need them”.

The program is especially looking for primary and secondary school course books, university and college technical course books. Novels and other interesting reading materials that target primary, secondary and tertiary levels students are also needed.

The Book Drive, an initiative of MDM360 Trailblazers managers’ forum and the KenGen Foundation, is expected to go on until December.
