KenGen Foundation Hosts Alumni, Celebrates 10 Years of Education Scholarships.

A round of applause as he welcomes Nahashon Meli, an alumnus of the program now working in the financial field. The broadly smiling young man reiterates how the scholarship has benefitted him in his life and career, how it has transformed his life. Elizabeth Kisyang’a, also an alumnus now working in corporate communications echoes her success story when she takes the stage next.

Then Florence Oginda, KenGen’s Principal Human Resource Officer, talks to us about the value of giving back to the society, and the Foundation’s Giver Initiative. She encourages the alumni to partner with the Foundation so as to add value to the lives of the less fortunate in the society.

To curb guest speakers is the amiable Henry Ithiami, the Technical Assurance and Quality manager who took the stage and moved all in his no-nonsense speech based on his life’s journey through charity and the meaning of ‘giving’. He had done quite some googling on what this word means.

The colourful evening was crowned by the keynote address from the Managing Director and Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors Mr. Albert Mugo, which was ably delivered on his behalf by the acting Managing Director John Mudany.

All in all, it was such a great evening. So gratifying to note the KenGen scholarship program has already produced young men and women who are serving in various jobs as accountants, engineers, IT specialists and scientists.
