The KenGen Education Scholarship class of 2024 performed well in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations, recording three A – (minus), four B+ (plus), six B (plain), seven B- (minus), one C+ (plus) and one C (plain).
Maryanne Atieno Onundi from Loreto High School, Jenesta Wawira Ndaru from Limuru Girls and Daniel Njuguna Macharia from Maranda High scored A- (minus) to lead the pack that had a total of 24 sponsored candidates.
Mercy Muthoni from Our Lady of Consolata Mugoiri, Gabriel Karisa (Ribe Boys), Dennis Musee (Nyahururu High School) and Annastacia Mwasya from Chogoria Girls scored B (plus), while Stephen Mbura (Murang’a High School), Elijah Kamoiro (Moi Naikara Secondary School), Ibrahin Mbugua (Mai Mahiu High School), and Habiba Ismail (Lamu Girls) obtained B (plain) as the mean score.
The 2024 cohort had seven B- (minus), one C+ (plus) and one C (plain). A total of 965,172 candidates registered for the 2024 KCSE, up from 903,138 in 2023.
In 2024, at least 483,523 female candidates registered for the exam, compared to 481,649 male candidates.
For the first time since the inception of the KCSE exam, female candidates outnumbered male candidates.
