Hard Work, Deep Sea Snorkelling during Kengen Foundation Retreat at the Coast
The climax of the fun was on the last day when the team proved not intimidated by the deep sea as it donned snorkelling masks for a rare and exciting chance to explore the secrets of the sea and marine life at the Island of Wasini, off the shores of Shimoni in south coast.
And despite initial hesitation, the Foundation’s ladies were actually more excited about the snorkelling excursion than the rest.
Sailing on a traditional Arab dhow christened “Wasini Pride”, the team set off for Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park for an opportunity to explore the depths of the ocean and a chance to see dolphins.
The team could not resist the allure of the tranquil turquoise waters of the ocean once at Wasini Island, and everybody eagerly reached out for their snorkelling gear.
Guided by Yusuf, Wasini Pride’s professional diver, each team member got a chance to swim to the deep sea and explore marine life from where the ocean shelf dropped to a depth of more than 20 meters! Apart from the various species of fish, coral, and other marine life that the team members had not seen before, except on National Geographic, the experience itself was exhilarating!
The sea expedition was concluded with a sea food lunch made from the fresh catch of the day.
The invigorated Foundation’s team returned to Nairobi with sunburns, fond memories of the retreat, and a better understanding of each other.
The team’s advise to all those going to coast for team building…do not miss Wasini island and the deep sea expedition. It’s worth every dime!
