Fueling Excellence: Robert Momanyi’s Success Through KenGen’s Support

Robert Momanyi, hailing from Nyamira County, stands as a shining example of how education can unlock transformative potential. A former student of Dr. Ribeiro Parklands School, he excelled as the top student in Nairobi, achieving an impressive A- in the 2017 KCSE examination. This remarkable performance earned him a full university scholarship through KenGen’s Education Scholarships Program.
Coming from a modest background as the fourth-born in a family of five, Robert was raised by a father who worked as a clerk and a mother who tilled their farm. Despite the financial challenges, KenGen’s scholarship enabled him to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, graduating with Second Class Honors (Upper Division) in December 2024.
Currently, Robert is interning at Rethread Africa, a company specializing in sustainable and innovative materials. In his role, he spearheads research on bioplastics and the development of eco-friendly fabrics derived from pineapples. His work directly contributes to sustainable practices in agriculture and manufacturing, demonstrating the profound impact of education on tackling environmental challenges.
Among Robert’s notable achievements is the development of groundbreaking technology that transforms post-harvest agro-waste from smallholder farmers into bio-based materials. This innovation not only provides sustainable solutions for waste management but also empowers local farmers to derive more value from their produce.
In a heartfelt message to KenGen Foundation, Robert expressed his gratitude:
“I take this moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for walking with me through a journey that began in August 2018 and culminated in my graduation on December 19, 2024. This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without your unwavering support. I am now excited to take the next step in my career, armed with the knowledge and skills you helped me attain. Thank you for investing in my future and for being such a vital part of my story. God bless KenGen Foundation.”
KenGen Foundation’s commitment to providing quality education continues to empower students like Robert to achieve their dreams and contribute to Kenya’s social and economic goals.
