Foundation Joins Celebral Palsy Unit Celebrations
Let us all join hands to help this school make the lives of the students meaningful”, she urged the participants.
The Head Teacher, Mrs. Rose Mureu started the unit in 2006 after a teacher in the school had an 8-year old child with Cerebral Palsy who couldn’t find a school due to her condition. Mrs. Mureu felt compassionate towards the family, and the child was the first student in the special unit.
“Education is great equalizer”, said Hon. Mwaura. “In our call to serve humanity, we should remember that children with disabilities are not from a lesser God. I dream of the day when Cerebral Palsy will not be an obstacle to achieving greatness.
Personally, I commit to ensure that this school becomes a Center of Excellence for children with Cerebral Palsy”, he pledged.
“KenGen has supported the school and the Cerebral Palsy unit in various ways including the setting up of a play pen for the children which has since been moved to allow the expansion of the road”, said the Head Teacher Mrs. Mureu. “KenGen has also helped build us one classroom, and we are forever grateful for this”.
Since starting the Cerebral Palsy unit 10 years ago, demand has increased and currently, the school has 100 special students. KenGen is currently sponsoring a student from the school through high school.
During the occasion the Foundation brought refreshments for the students.
