Foundation Holds 11th Education Scholarships Ceremony
The students having been under the Foundations wings for the last three years and beyond, took time to catch up on previous years’ mentorship events with great nostalgia.
The main event started on 22nd August where the KenGen Foundation’s Board of Trustee Finance Manager Mr. Henry Nyachae gave welcoming remarks to a converged group of 150 students who were enthusiastic to commencing the mentorship program.
Said he: “I encourage you to pick as much knowledge as possible and make good use of it in your schools and communities at large”
The training took two days with the climax being the award of certificates for all student who participated.
The evenings were graced by peak performance talent search unit that kept the stu-dents highly motivated and engaged to show-case their presentation skills through dances, poems, stand-up comedy and songs.
Various key speakers were invited to share their experiences including: Kenya Airways’ Captain Moses Karanja – one of the youngest accomplished pilots who started flying at the age of 20 and attained the ranks of Captain at 27 years.
Other speakers included Ian Dennis – inspirational speaker, Elizabeth Wamwea – Nairobi Women’s Hospital, Amina Abdi K24 TV personality, Winnie Ann-Teacher Starehe Boys.
There was also Peter Ngachuro who is the KenGen Community Liaison Officer Western Hydros and (scholarship beneficiary), Bethwel Ogwao – _Assistant Manager HR and popular Gospel Musician Roy Smith Mwita (Rufftone).
The grand event was the award ceremony graced by both KenGen Officials and partners that saw the awardees receive their scholarship certificates.
Thanks to the wonderful MC Joseph Mbugua the award event had its laughter moments, which ended with memorable photo sessions capturing the moments for posterity.
Indeed it was an event that will linger in the minds of the students for a long time.
