KenGen Foundation begins consulting Upper Tana Community on CDCF funded projects

Tana power station is in Murang’a south district, and is situated 83km from Nairobi on the Nairobi – Nyeri road. The area surrounding the station faces several challenges including poor road infrastructure and lack of adequately equipped schools leading to poor national examination performance.

The representatives were all in agreement that a fair balance and distribution of projects within the area will benefit the whole community in general. They were tasked to deliberate within themselves and prioritise community projects that required the Foundation’s immediate attention.

Plans to set up a stakeholders’ coordination committee comprising of KenGen staff, community members and the local leadership are underway. Implementation of identified community projects, under CDCF’s funding is set to start in early 2016.
