Elizabeth Kisyang’a from Masinga is an alumnus of the KenGen’s Education Scholarships programme. A former student at Masinga Girls’ Secondary School class of 2006, she was awarded a full University scholarship after qualifying to join Maseno University wher she pursued a degree in Communications and Media Technology with Information Technology (IT).
The lastborn daughter in a family of eight, she lost her parents at a tender age and had to study through the support of her guardian and well-wishers.
She started her career after graduating in 2012 with second-class upper division as a freelance writer with Business Daily Newspaper (Daily Nation) and in 2013, she managed to get a job with the University of Nairobi HIV Capacity Building Fellowship funded by Centre for Disease Control (CDC) as the Communications Officer where she is to date.
Elizabeth is a keen mentor of other students enrolled in the Education Scholarships programme and has the following words for the currently enrolled students; “The KenGen Education Scholarship is a programme that has touched and transformed the lives of many young people who probably would not have made it in life without such support. It is an opportunity that young people should maximise and built their strong career future”.
